About Real Home Habits

Real Home Habits is an independent content project focused on one problem: making small, rented, and shared homes easier to live in. We publish step-by-step organizing guides for kitchens, bedrooms and closets, bathrooms, living rooms and home offices, and the everyday habits that keep a small home from sliding back into clutter.

What we believe about organizing

Most organizing advice is written for houses with more storage than the average apartment will ever have. We write for the opposite situation: shallow cabinets, one small closet, a kitchen with three drawers, and a landlord who won’t let you install permanent shelving. Every guide is built around that constraint first.

We favor solutions you can try with things you already own before we suggest anything to buy, and when we do suggest a purchase, we try to say honestly what it costs and whether a cheaper version would do the job almost as well. We do not promise that any single tip, product, or system will transform your home overnight — organizing is maintenance, not magic, and our guides are written with that honesty in mind.

How our content is put together

Articles on Real Home Habits are researched, written, and edited by our editorial team before publication. We update guides when we notice something has gone out of date, and every article shows both its original publish date and its most recent update date so you know how current the information is.
